A primary focus of my Web Content Specialist position was asset creation. When I first began working in 2006 for a web design company that focused on auto dealerships, the bulk of my asset creation work was done in Adobe Photoshop. I was tasked with creating slideshow hero banner images, traditional banners/pencil banners, and call to action buttons. Our clients were car dealerships, so the content was focused on highlighting special offers, service specials, collision and repair, monthly lease specials and general website image updates like staff pages and landing pages. As the business matured, our propriatary CMS was updated with its own internal, basic image editor, but complex design requests were still handled within Photoshop.
As trends changed and the internet moved towards mobile-first responsive design, my team adapted by changing our design philosophy regarding image sizing, page layout, and acessibility while still meeting our individual clients design needs.
Much of the design tended on the conservative side due to the broad audience it was aimed at, as well as adherence to strict OEM branding guidelines. Dealers typically requested traditional American imagery, seasonal appropriate themes, and iconic, impactful simplicity, as seen in my examples with the recurring American flag motif.
I've been in the digital marketing industry for nearly 20 years, helping automotive dealer clients realize their vision for their unique web footprint to showcase their brand. My skills range from creating visually appealing images in Adobe Photoshop for use on websites, device-agnostic webpage layout design, and consultation on best practices for web design.
I have created websites using everything from proprietary Content Management Systems to handcoding in HTML and CSS. I’m self-taught and a fast learner with solid verbal and written communication skills. I adapt easily to change and find problem solving and troubleshooting an exciting challenge. I love working with a tight-knit team, and am more inclined to cooperation than competition. I’m especially looking for a way to make a positive impact with my skills for the LGBTQIA+ community.
